Cheerful faces in Zeytinburnu that experiences the innovation and that is being renewed had to foot with new projects
Murat Aydin, the Mayor, keeps up with its action for service, which it started in 1999 in Zeytinburnu. Mayor Aydın starts new projects with the peace and the confidence that he realized the services he had promised to do in the county.
Murat Aydin, Mayor of Zeytinburnu, who took the highest rate of votes among the 32 mayors of AK (Adalet ve Kalkinma – Justice and Development) Party in Istanbul, increased his vote rate by 90 % in comparison to the previous local government election. Murat Aydin, who is also the first person to be elected as the Mayor of Zeytinburnu for a second term, plans to make Zeytinburnu one of the reasons for tourists to visit Turkey.
Murat Aydin, who improved and beautified the shore side of Zeytinburnu, the center in Istanbul of the leather sector, plans to set up a yacht marina and an island by the coast. Mayor Aydin, who aims at building an exhibition and culture hall and a hotel on the island has had the required plans prepared.
On the other hand, the works that have been being maintained jointly with the Prime Ministry, the Metropolitan Municipal Office, the Municipal Office of Zeytinburnu, 5 universities one of which is a foreign one, and the World Bank in Zeytinburnu that was selected as the pilot region in the Earthquake Master Plan of Istanbul, which was initiated by the Metropolitan Municipal Office of Istanbul after the 1999 earthquake, are being concluded. Following the determinations, the urban transformation projects will be implemented in the county in the fashion of destruction or reinforcement of buildings. The sources will be heavily provided by the World Bank.
Mayor Aydin is determinant to introduce the name of Zeytinburnu, which is a miniaturized model of the Turkic world, as the county of healing. Besides the Merkez Efendi Medical Days that was held with a high level of attendance, herbs of various Province of Authoritys will be exhibited in Lokman Hekim Herbal Park where various herbs and plants are planted.
Furthermore, as the Project of Cultural Island initiated to protect the cultural and the historical values owned by Zeytinburnu; Topkapi City Park where the Ottoman houses, artists' avenue, amphitheatre, pools, walkways and a panoramic museum will take part; the Gigantic Port Project to be realized on an area of 250 thousand square meters on the coast line of Zeytinburnu; Turkey's most modern stadium, which will have a parking lot under and a shopping center on the sides, with all tribunes are closed and the ceiling is convertible, multifunctional; new road connections and underground parking lot that will relieve the transportation in the county; the handicapped Coordination Center that will make important contributions to the social lives of the handicapped, and the project of e-local government that is to carry the relations with the citizens to an effective and an efficient platform are enlivened, Zeytinburnu will welcome the future as being one of the most modern and the most preferable counties of Istanbul.
